Eva's Kitchen, with seating capacity for 240 people, serves a hot lunch 365 days a year. All who come are fed. Guests dining at Eva's Kitchen are not made to stand in a "chow line," but are seated at tables and served with dignity and respect by volunteers. During the extreme cold of winter and the summer months of July and August, the numbers needing a meal may increase and another partial seating is added. There are two full seatings on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Outside the dining hall is a large courtyard that is an area of social interaction. It is a safe and welcoming place closed off from the busy streets of Paterson. As relationships form, clients come to understand the resources available to them and may choose to take the next step - whether it is shelter, drug/alcohol recovery or primary health care.
Volunteers are an essential ingredient in the Kitchen, and we welcome the participation of individuals as well as local business, religious, civic and educational groups.
